The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi launched the JAWDA programme in 2014 to measure the performance of healthcare facilities through quality indicators that facilities submit periodically.
On 29 October 2020 the department revealed the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Index (Muashir), an extension of JAWDA that classifies distinguished facilities every year with a diamond system, from one diamond (good) to five diamonds (outstanding).
What the facility needs
- Knowing which indicators apply to the facility's type and specialties.
- Appointing someone responsible for collecting the data and submitting it on time.
- Reviewing results internally before submission.
- Linking the indicators to daily policies and procedures, rather than treating them as a periodic report only.
